Our present and past CEO’s were all Buyers, so whether you are interested in Merchandise Planning and Allocation, Merchandise Buying, or Executive Management, our CORPORATE MERCHANDISE TRAINING PROGRAM will give you what you need for a successful career in corporate retail. It is a unique opportunity to learn about the world of Merchandising in a corporate setting where training is an integral part of your career.

From day one, you have a career path mapped out for you, starting in Merchandise Planning & Allocation. In MERCHANDISE PLANNING AND ALLOCATION, you will drive sales by analyzing trends, anticipating customer buying patterns and managing inventory levels. Our Planners are creative, love taking calculated risks and use their strategic and analytical skills to drive sales and profit. It is all about getting the right merchandise to the right stores at the right time. Your decisions will help determine the assortment of goods that are seen in our stores every day. As your career continues, you will pursue a career in either Merchandise Planning & Allocation or Merchandise Buying.

In MERCHANDISE BUYING, you will learn how to buy and negotiate for off-price merchandise. You will travel regularly to NYC and other domestic and international centers to develop vendor relationships and source new merchandise. Our Buyers are entrepreneurial, love to travel, live to negotiate and build strong business relationships. As a Buyer, you will deliver exciting merchandise that represents great value to all of our customers. As you develop your skills driving the business, you will have a tremendous opportunity for growth into EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT.

Buyers and Planners for TJX are responsible for up to $150 million in sales. Merchandising is the heart of our company and truly drives our business, a perfect place to build a dynamic and successful retail career in Buying or Planning, and ultimately in Executive Management. What You Offer:


Selection is extremely competitive for the CMTP, please apply only if you have demonstrated/proven strengths in the following area's:


  • Strong analytical (conceptual and numbers) and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to think both strategically and creatively.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to take intelligent risks.
  • An excitement for merchandise.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task and problem-solve.
  • A Bachelor's Degree with a GPA of 3.2 or higher is strongly preferred or equivalent work experience.
