Description

AVP, Distribution Services Human Resources AJWright

The Assistant Vice President, Distribution Services Human Resources supports our AJWright division based in Framingham, MA. AJWright offers authentic brand name apparel and footwear for the entire family, as well as home essentials and giftware, at up to 70% off discount and chain store prices. AJWright exists to help budget-conscious customers express their personal style cost-effectively. We operate stores nationwide and are aggressively opening in new and existing markets.  The seamless operation of our remote Distribution Centers is critical in supporting the projected growth of AJWright.  The AVP, Distribution Services Human Resources provides strategic and technical Human Resources direction, in concert with Senior Distribution Services Management, for AJWright Distribution and Logistics organization. Oversees the provision of guidance and developmental support for DC Human Resource Managers. Sets standard and ensures consistency among distribution centers with regard to best practices. Serves as the communication link between DC management and HR support. Provides ongoing feedback and counsel to VP of  Distribution Services.

 Responsibilities include:

         

  • Provides guidance, counsel and human resources development to the D.C. Human Resource Managers. Provides regular status reports to the  Vice President of Distribution Services and the Vice President, Director of Human Resources and other key stakeholders.
  • Oversees labor and associate relations strategies within the distribution centers to ensure compliance and consistency with regard to interpretation of contractual issues and Company policies and procedures. Maintains constructive relationships among management, associates, and union, where applicable.

  • Oversees labor law compliance strategies to ensure legal requirements are being met. Identifies areas of shortfall and, in coordination with senior management and the Human Resources department staff supports improvements.

  • Oversees the performance review process to ensure equity throughout the distribution centers. Analyzes the process to determine if it is achieving its goals of communicating associate performance and acting as a tool to increase performance.

  • Partners with Global Compensation to monitor pay practices and ensure cost effective, equitable and fair pay practices for all distribution centers.

  • Oversees recruiting strategies for all AJWright Distribution Centers. Monitors recruitment practices and turnover figures in order to identify opportunities, recommends strategies for improvement and monitors programs for consistency to standards among Distribution Centers. Oversees searches for DC management positions.

  • Partners with the AVP Learning and Organizational Development and with Distribution Center management in order to identify opportunities for training and development. Recommends strategies for improvement and monitors programs for consistence to standards among Distribution Centers. Oversees continuum for skill development of all DC management positions.

  • Broad, generalist business HR experience gained at Director level
  • Experience is likely to have been gained within retail or manufacturing operations focused business which has been through a period of rapid growth
  • Knowledge of labor law issues and practices
  • Rigorously pursues practical business solutions while spontaneously responding to the day to day needs of the business
  • Accustomed to working as a strategic business partner; proven track record of defining and delivering an HR strategy that meets long-term, strategic business goals
  • Proven track record in delivering business solutions with measurable impact
  • Experience of leveraging resources and minimizing process in a multi-site organization 
  • Motivated and challenged in a fast-paced, change driven environment
