Description TJX Buyers are…

Business Drivers
• Our Buyers are responsible for leveraging data and market trends to create and execute buying strategies that effectively drive profitable sales.
• Our inventory turns about nine times per year at the store level, which enables our Buyers to buy with short lead times, reacting quickly to changing consumer demands and driving strong merchandise margins.

Relationship Builders
• With Buying offices in 9 countries around the world, our vast vendor universe now numbers over 12,000.
• TJX is not tied to a corporate controlled matrix; we expect and encourage our merchants to source new vendors and resources to bring in desired goods.
• TJX Buyers build strong relationships with vendors that include trust, integrity, follow-up, honesty and humility.
• Our Buyers foster relationships across divisions with peers and Management to meet Company goals and objectives.

Trend Savvy
• Our Buyers keep a strong pulse on market conditions regarding price, resources and fashion and react accordingly to impact the business.
• TJX merchants are responsible for continuously identifying new opportunities, pursuing new vendors, and sourcing new markets.

Entrepreneurial
• Our Buyers are entrepreneurial minded and often view their craft as an art more than a science.
• Merchants at TJX have a high level of autonomy; they have the ability to negotiate and make on-the-spot decisions while in the market place.
• We provide an environment where our Buyers can be creative, free thinkers and risk takers.

Master Negotiators
• TJX Buyers utilize effective negotiation tactics to ensure favorable deal outcomes; while continuing to maintain positive vendor relationships.
Requirements:
• A minimum of four years of experience as a Buyer in a fashion driven, fast paced, multi-unit retail environment.
• Proven experience consistently delivering on financial targets and driving profitable sales.
• The ability to quickly adjust strategy in response to changing market conditions and fashion trends.
• A global awareness and understanding of customer diversity, with experience creating strategies that reflect the nuances of buying for various geographic cultures.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Entrepreneurial minded and comfortable taking risks.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Experience cultivating relationships, both with internal teams and the vendor community.
• Strong negotiation skills, with examples to substantiate.
• Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Consistently acting with a high level of integrity.
• Domestic and international travel required.
